Just to put it out there, myself and Davor (my opponent from the previous game) noticed that we made a few mistakes with our army list construction and some rules to boot. The following were some that comes to mind-
- I looked over my list and actually had Zombie Trolls listed instead of Werewolves. I normally use the Vargheist models for Werewolves, so I may confused y'all with the models and rules and whatnot. Keen readers would've noticed that I was surging Werewolves (which were meant to be Trolls). This would've been a big no-no as Werewolves cannot be surged as they do not have the Shambling special rule, whereas, Zombie Trolls CAN be Surged because they have Shambling.
- My opponent completely forgot that he had an item called The Chant of Hate on his Warrior Ogre legion block. This was a massive oversight, as this allows him to reroll natural 1's to Wound, which probably would've wiped out my Zombie legion in one round.
- Inspiring can only be used to reroll Nerve tests when a unit Routs. It can't be used to reroll Nerve tests when a unit Wavers.
- A unit loses it's Thunderous Charge bonus if it is Hindered or Disordered.
I hope this helps any new player that's getting into the game.
So with that, we've set up another game in the next day or two, using the same Armies' but have tweaked our lists just a little. We've also set up a small house rule where we can only take a max of 3 magical artefacts, just so we focus more on the actual gaming rules rather than go back and forth trying to look up what each item does.
I'll start with my list-
2000 Point Undead Army
Skeleton Warriors
Horde (40)
+10 Undead Dogs
160
Mummies
Regiment (20)
170
Mummies
Regiment (20)
170
Zombies
Horde (40)
130
Werewolves
Horde (6)
245
Zombie Trolls
Horde (6)
175
Balefire Catapult
100
Revenant Cavalry
Regiment (10)
Brew of Haste +15
185
Soul Reaver Cavalry
Troop(5)
195
Necromancer
Grimoire of Unspeakable Darkness +30
115
Necromancer
85
Revenant King on Undead Wyrm
Winged Wyrm +45
Medallion of Life +35
270
Thoughts-
The Balefire Catapult is BAAAAAAACK! I have to admit, I did miss this thing. Sure, it's 5's to hit, but the Indirect Fire is so good, plus whatever it hits is sure to feel some pain.
I'm going to give the Revenant Cavalry another shot because I feel as though I didn't use them properly in the last game and got sucked in a suicide run. Brew of Haste for that +1 speed is always a handy item to give a unit.
I dropped the Liche King (reluctantly) to boost the sizes of both the Werewolves and Zombie Trolls. I'm going to miss the Surge 12 and the Lightning Bolt, but hopefully, the sheer amount of attacks those large infantry units will be dealing will more than make up for it.
Again, I've left my favourite Vampire Lord, Count Fredrik, on the sidelines to make way for the Revenant King on Undead Wyrm. I've boosted up his survivability by giving him the Medallion of Life for that regen (as if he needed it anyway :P).
